FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Marianne Hogan finished 25th to pace San Diego State at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships Saturday at the Collindale Golf Course in Fort Collins, Colo. Hogan completed the 6,000-meter course in 22 minutes, 28.6 seconds to take 25th out of 68 competitors. It was the 11th consecutive race that she has been the team's top performer, dating back to last season. The Aztecs finished eighth as a team with 218 points, 39 points behind seventh-place finisher UNLV. New Mexico won the meet for the fourth consecutive season with 30 points. "It seems that sea-level schools always take turns at the bottom three places when it comes to competing at the championship meet," head coach Shelia Burrell said. "With these conditions of high elevation and snow, I'm just glad we were prepared and can now look forward to the NCAA Regionals in Palo Alto (Calif.)." Josefine Koskinen (24:06.6) and Taylor Johnson (24:11.7) finished 53rd and 54th, respectively, to finish No. 2 and No. 3 on the team for the fifth straight race. Seanie Rigney (61st, 25:12.9), Niki Novak (65th, 25:34.4) and Hannah Carman (68th, 26:57.3) also competed for SDSU. San Diego State heads to Palo Alto to compete in the NCAA West Regionals on Nov. 12.
