SDSU Water Polo Earns 9-7 Win Against Princeton
COMPLETE AZTEC INVITE RESULTS
The No. 8 San Diego State water polo team concluded the Aztec Invitational with a perfect 4-0 record after defeating No. 18 Princeton, 9-7, on Sunday afternoon at the Aztec Aquaplex. SDSU improved to 15-6 on the year, while Princeton fell to 19-2 this season.

As a part of the Invite, San Diego State will face Bucknell (3-8) and No. 11 Indiana (11-8) on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. PT and 3:30 p.m. PT, respectively. The Aztecs will close out weekend action on Sunday at 3 p.m. PT against No. 12 Princeton (12-2).

Aztec Invitational action starts at 8 a.m. PT on both days and will feature the Aggies, Bison, Hoosiers, Tigers, No. 17 UC San Diego, No. 13 Cal State Northridge and No. 8 Hawai'i. There will be eight games played on Saturday and six on Sunday. Admission for Friday's game and the Invitational is free.

Of the four foes SDSU will face this weekend, it has only met Indiana this year. Back on Jan. 20 at the Michigan Kick-Off, San Diego State captured an 11-5 decision over the Hoosiers. In that game, Amber Pezzolla scored six goals, while Anique Hermann and Tori Long each contributed a pair. Taelor Moreno added a goal as well. Defensively, Rachel Mitchell stopped practically everything that came her way as she tallied 13 saves.

The Aztecs are coming off a weekend where they split two games in the Los Angeles area. San Diego State earned its first-ever Big West win with a 9-8 decision over No. T-15 CSUN before falling to No. 4 UCLA, 9-5.

In the game vs. the Matadors, both teams were tied at 4-4 after one quarter before the Aztecs created separation with three second-quarter goals. Cal State Northridge attempted a valiant comeback by outscoring San Diego State, 3-2, in the second half, but SDSU would have none of it as it pulled out the win.

The next day at UCLA, the Aztecs dug themselves a 4-1 hole after eight minutes of action, but stayed within striking distance over the next two quarters. By halftime, SDSU cut its deficit to two and in the third period got to within 5-4. Unfortunately for the Aztecs, the Bruins went on to post three unanswered goals in the frame and scored the lone goal in the fourth quarter to earn the four-goal decision.

Over the weekend, Pezzolla hit a milestone as she tied the school record for steals in a career. The senior has 34 this season and 268 as Aztec, which ties Megan Dunbar for the all-time lead. The three-time All-American leads the team in scoring with 41 and is one goal shy of becoming the seventh Aztec in program history to score at least 200 goals.

After this week, San Diego State will play host to the Aztec Mini Tournament, March 22-23. SDSU will face Long Beach State on March 22 at 4 p.m. PT, before facing Brown and Redlands at 2 p.m. PT and 5 p.m. PT, respectively.
