COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - San Diego State middle blocker Andrea Hannasch has earned Mountain West Women's Volleyball Player of the Week honors for matches played from Oct. 1-7, 2012. It is the second Mountain West weekly honor on the season and fifth of her career for the 6-2 native of New Braunfels, Texas.
Hannasch, a senior, led the Aztecs to a 2-0 record in Conference play last week with 3-2 wins over Fresno State and UNLV. In the win over Fresno State, Hannasch recorded 14 kills, nine digs and five blocks while amassing a .370 hitting percentage. She also tied her season- and career-high of three assists and served up two aces, including one on match point in the fifth set that gave SDSU the win.
Her 19 kills in the victory over UNLV were a season-best and one shy of her career-high. She also tallied eight digs and five blocks in the match while posting a .385 hitting percentage. In the fifth and deciding set, she recorded three of the Aztecs' final four kills to wrap up the win.
For the week, Hannasch averaged 3.30 kills, 1.70 digs and 1.00 blocks per set, while hitting .379. She averaged 4.00 points per set over 10 total sets.
The Aztecs continue Mountain West play this week beginning with a match at Boise State on Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7:00 p.m. (MT) in Bronco Gym in Boise, Idaho.
