Volleyball To Compete at 2012 Fullerton Classic

Complete Release and Season Statistics San Diego State will make a short trip north to play in its final tournament of the season when it visits Fullerton for the five-team 2012 Fullerton Classic. The other tourney participants include Santa Clara, Brown, Oregon State and Cal State Fullerton. SDSU's opening match will be against tournament host Santa Clara on Friday (Sept. 14) at 11:00 a.m. (PT) at Titan Gym. The Aztecs will face host Cal State Fullerton that night at 7:00 p.m. The complete tourney schedule is as follows:

SERIES RECORDS** Santa Clara holds a 2-1 edge in the series against San Diego State. Two of those matches have come at neutral sites while the third was at Santa Clara. The teams have not met since the 2003 campaign when the Broncos defeated the Aztecs at the Arizona Wildcat Classic. ** San Diego State's all-time record against Cal State Fullerton stands at 44-5 in a series that began in 1976. The series has been very competitive over the last few years as the teams split eight matches since 2004 with each winning four on its home floor. SDSU's last win in Fullerton came during the 1995 season. ** The Aztecs have won three of its previous contests against Oregon State. SDSU is 2-0 vs. OSU at home and 1-1 at neutral sites. The most recent meeting between the Aztecs and beavers came in 2006 when Oregon State claimed a 3-1 victory in Corvallis. ** San Diego State was victorious in its only previous match against Brown. That contest was during the 1995 season when the teams met in San Diego at the SDSU Tournament.
