SAN DIEGO, Calif. - San Diego State Head coach Deitre Collins-Parker has announced that Chloe Mathis, a transfer from the University of Arizona, will join the Aztec volleyball team for the 2012 season. The 5-11 setter from La Jolla, Calif., played in 31 matches as a freshman for the Wildcats.

During the 2011 season at Arizona, Mathis was named to the all-Pac-12 Freshman Team after averaging 9.93 assists and 1.78 digs while hitting .391 as the Wildcats' starting setter. She recorded six double-doubles and helped lead the team to a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Mathis is a 2011 graduate of La Jolla Country Day High School where she was a first-team all-state honoree as a senior when she was named the CIF Division IV State Player of the Year along with District and Regional Player of the Year recognition. She was also a two-time all-CIF and all-Coastal Conference selection as a junior and senior after earning second-team accolades as a sophomore.

She also competed for the Coast Volleyball Club in San Diego and was named a Prep Volleyball Senior Ace.

Mathis joins an SDSU team that went 18-10 last season including a 10-4 mark in Mountain West play. The Aztecs second-place conference finish was its best since 2002 while it recorded its most victories since the 2003 season.
