SDSU at the MWC Championships
San Diego State is one of three schools, joining Brigham Young and Colorado State, in Mountain West Conference history to win an outdoor championship in the nine previous years of the league.
The Aztecs won their lone title in 2003 when they earned 217 points, 11 more than the Cougars. Prior to that magical season, BYU won three straight titles from 2000-02 and had won four consecutive Mountain West crowns before the Rams emerged with the 2008 championship.
This year is the first time the conference meet will be held in Laramie and now eight of the league's nine institutions can say they have played host to the Championships. The lone school to have not played host to the meet is Utah.
Below is a look at SDSU's showing at the MWC Championships:

Koehler Looks to Continue Stellar Season at Conference
Karoline Koehler has enjoyed a fantastic 2009 campaign thus far and will look to continue it at more than 7,000 feet. The senior has already qualified for regionals in the 100 meters, long jump and triple jump and boasts the Mountain West's top mark in both jumping events. Additionally, her long jump performance is tops in San Diego State history and her triple jump is the second best on the program's all-time outdoor performance list. Nationally, the two-time indoor All-American ranks fourth in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump, according to NCAA as of May 11.
At the MWC indoor meet in March, Koehler earned all-conference accolades after winning the long jump, coming in second in the triple jump and in third place in the 60-meter dash.
Johnson on a Roll the Last Five Outings
Briana Johnson has been a roll in her last five outings leading up to the Mountain West Conference Championships. Dating back to the Cal-Nevada meet on March 29, the sophomore has posted NCAA regional qualifying times in the 100-meter hurdles at five consecutive meets. During her five-meet run, Johnson has turned in times of 13.87 or faster (NCAA regional qualifying time is 13.92), including a personal-record 13.63 accomplished at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational. Last season as a freshman, Johnson earned a berth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships.
NCAA Regional Qualifiers
San Diego State currently boasts nine NCAA West Regional qualifiers to date. Those nine athletes are slated to compete in 16 events in Eugene, Ore., May 29-30. The regional qualifiers are - Karoline Koehler (100, triple jump, long jump, 4x100), Nicole Stone (400, 400 hurdles, 4x100), Briana Johnson (100 hurdles, 4x100), Leanne Taylor (shot put, discus throw), Rachel Williams (5,000), Annimari Korte (100 hurdles), Jessika Hornsby (4x100), Michele Dannhausen (javelin throw), and Jeanette McConnell (discus throw).
