Aztecs Add Oxy Invitational to Schedule

May 8, 2008

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State track and field team added the Oxy Invitational to its 2008 schedule and will send a handful of athletes to the meet in Los Angeles, Calif., this Saturday, May 10. The one-day event will provide SDSU athletes one last shot at qualifying for the NCAA West Regionals prior to the Mountain West Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which are set for May 14-17 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The Aztecs will send a group of 10 athletes to Bill Henry Olympic Track on the campus of Occidental College. That group will consist of freshmen Laura Boggeln (throws) and Marie Brown (pole vault), sophomores Robyn Guzman (throws) and Makenzie Mabry (distance), juniors Corri Campbell-Fell (hurdles), Michele Dannhausen (throws), Andrea Martinez (throws) and Tamara McMillan (throws) and seniors Joanna Burley (pole vault) and Anne Vieira (distance).

The meet will get underway beginning at 10 a.m. with shot put, discus throw and pole vault. The women will kick things off in both the discus and pole vault, but will follow the men in the shot put. The running events are not slated to begin until 2:45 p.m. in the City of Angels.
