Looking at the Week
San Diego State will have a split squad this week with one traveling to Berkeley, Calif., for the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, and the other making the short trip to UC San Diego for the Triton Invite beginning on Friday. Both meets are scheduled for two days.

The non-scoring Brutus Hamilton Invitational is set to begin with the hammer throw and pole vault at 10 a.m. on Friday. The running events will not start until the 400 gets underway at 4:30 p.m. First-day action will conclude with the 5K at 6:50 p.m. Saturday competition starts with the javelin at 11:30 a.m. and will end with the 4x400 relay at 4:40 p.m. Live results for the meet will be available by visiting http://www.sml1.com/recordtiming/cal/brutus08/.

The Triton Invitational is also a non-scoring event and will feature the invitational of the hammer and discus and the open of the pole vault and discus during Friday's opening day action, which is set to begin at 10 a.m. at Triton Stadium. Saturday, meanwhile, is when a full bill of action will take place starting at 11 a.m. with the javelin invitational. The meet will come to a close for the women at 6 p.m. with the 5,000-meter run invite.

Next week, SDSU will compete in Irvine, Calif., for the Steve Scott Invitational on Saturday, May 3. The meet will provide the Aztecs with one last tune-up prior to the Mountain West Conference Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, May 14-17.

Olafsdottir and Watson Provisionally Qualify for Nationals
Juniors Kristin Olafsdottir and Shana Watson kicked off a busy last week for the Aztecs as they competed in the Mt. SAC Heptathlon, their first multi-event of the outdoor season.

Olafsdottir finished in ninth place with a total of 5,235 points and Watson came in 12th with 5,056 points. After the dust settled, both provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships as both surpassed the necessary provisional total of 5,050.

What is more impressive is the fact that Watson completed her first-ever heptathlon after not finishing at last year's MWC Championships. The Mt. SAC competition was just her second heptathlon of her career and third multi-event overall (2008 MWC indoor pentathlon).

McMillan PRs in Hammer at Beach
Junior Tamara McMillan set a new personal record in the hammer throw at the Beach Invitational this past Saturday.

The Pensacola, Fla., native posted a heave of 150 feet, 7 inches to finish in 35th place. Prior to this past weekend, McMillan's best toss was 147-11 while coming in second place at the Boston-Moon Classic.

Lowery Punches Ticket to Regionals in 100
Senior Alicia Lowery became the second Aztec of the season to qualify for the NCAA Regionals in the 100-meter dash at the Mt. SAC Relays.

Having already qualified with her teammates in the 4x100 relay, Lowery ran a personal-record 11.74 in the 100 to finish first in her timed section final.

The San Diego product's performance would have ranked ninth all-time in San Diego State history but a wind aid of 3.1 was too high to consider for record keeping.

Bagan Named Athlete of the Week
Last week, sophomore Stephanie Bagan was named the MWC Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week. The weekly award was the first of her career and came on the heels of her qualifying for the 2008 Olympic Trials in the pole vault.

At the Sea Ray Relays, the Granite Bay, Calif., native cleared 13 feet, 11.25 to finish in a tie for second place overall and in a tie for first among all Division I competitors. Not only did Bagan qualify for the Olympic Trials to be held in July, she also recorded her fifth NCAA regional-qualifying clearance for the fifth time this outdoor campaign.

Following her personal-record vault, Bagan reclaimed her spot atop the NCAA leaderboard for the second time this season and was the new Tennessee facility record holder until former SDSU All-American Erin Asay cleared 14-3.25 to claim the honor.

With her performance, Bagan owns the top clearance in the league and is second all-time in San Diego State and Mountain West history.

Last Time at Berkeley
Last year, San Diego State did not compete at the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, but did experience success at the facility during the 2007 California Collegiate Challenge.

Decontee Kaye set a then school record in the triple jump and seven regional-qualifying efforts were recorded on the second and final day of the meet.

Last Time at the Triton Invite
At the 2007 Triton Invitational, SDSU emerged victorious in the 4x100 relay and posted two regional-qualifying marks in the pole vault. In addition, a total of either 10 personal or season bests were established at last year's meet.
