SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State track and field team will travel across town to La Jolla to compete in the UCSD Quad Meet. The meet is set to begin this Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. PT at the Triton Track & Field Stadium.

The meet, which features UCSD, SDSU, Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Dominguez Hills, will be the Aztecs' first outdoor event of the new year. Last weekend the Aztecs had a strong showing in the APU Indoor Qualifier, in Azusa, Calif., where they won seven events.

For the second straight outing, Rachel Williams emerged with an event victory, winning the 5,000 with a lifetime-best 17:50.00. Cross country teammate Kristin Glen was victorious in the 3K with a time of 10:25.00.

The SDSU distance medley relay team of Darien Buc, Nicole Stone, Amy Brown and Michelle Martinez took home the DMR title with a time of 12:41.39. Stone was also a member of the winning 4x400 relay team that included Amber Waddell, Leigh Rutherford and Jaime Ferguson. The quartet won the race with a time of 3:58.57.

Other winners for the Aztecs include Jessika Hornsby in the 200-meter-dash (25.33), Dana Jensen in the pole vault (11-9.75) and Tamara McMillan in the weight throw (54-0.50).

Next week, San Diego State travels to the Air Force Academy for the Mountain West Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 26-28.
