Women's Tennis Set For Two Matches This Week

SAN DIEGO - Aztecs Set For Two Matches This WeekThe San Diego State women's tennis team will travel north to Los Angeles to face No. 6 USC on Wednesday, Feb. 20, before returning home to face Loyola Marymount on Friday, Feb. 22.
Wednesday's match will mark the first road trip the Aztecs will make this season. The outing on Friday will mark the final appearance SDSU will make before packing up and making the trip to Hawaii for two matches.
Scouting the Trojans
With the Trojans sitting at No. 6 in the country, they boast five nationally-ranked singles players in No. 1 Sabrina Santamaria, No. 3 Danielle Lao, No. 23 Zoe Scandalis, No. 60 Gabriella DeSimone and No. 81 Giuliana Olmos. USC also features three sets of nationally-ranked doubles teams in top-ranked Kaitlyn Christian and Sabrina Santamaria, No. 25 Gabriella DeSimone and Zoe Scandalis and No. 48 Danielle Lao and Valeria Pulido.
Head coach Richard Gallien is in his 18th season leading the charge for the Trojans. Gallien has nine top-10 finishes, is a three-time Pac-10 Coach of the Year and has 17 NCAA appearances under his belt.
Scouting the Lions
Jamie Sanchez is in his 38th season as head coach of Loyola Marymount's women's tennis team. Sanchez has been the only head coach of the program since its establishment in 1975. In 37 seasons with the Lions, Sanchez has posted a career record of 459-453. |
