SAN DIEGO - The No. 58 San Diego State women's tennis team will return to Aztec Tennis Center Saturday when they play host to 15th-ranked Washington (4-0). First serve is set for noon PT.
After defeating No. 63 UC Irvine on the road last weekend, 5-2, the Aztecs start the campaign with a 3-0 record. SDSU won the doubles point quickly with two 9-7 victories over the Anteaters. The Aztecs have successfully taken the doubles point in all three matches this season.
After their 9-7 doubles victory in Irvine, the nationally ranked junior duo of Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison ran their winning streak to six, which dates back to the fall season. Sierra Ellison also helped SDSU earn the clinching point in her singles match after she defeated Irvine's Franziska Goettsching 3-6, 6-3, 6-2. On Wednesday, Sierra Ellison was rewarded for her efforts as she was named Mountain West Conference Player of the Week.
Washington heads south to San Diego with a perfect 4-0 record. To date, the Huskies have defeated MWC foes BYU and Utah on the road before traveling to Tallahassee, Fla., and taking care of Texas on a neutral court and Florida State. After its match with the Aztecs, the Huskies will play at San Diego on Sunday.
