SAN DIEGO -The San Diego State women's tennis team won all six of its singles matches and all three doubles contests on the opening day of the SDSU Fall Classic II, which runs though Sunday at the Aztec Tennis Center.
In the singles-silver bracket, the Aztecs picked up two wins as Roxanne Ellison picked up the 6-3, 6-3 victory against UC Irvine's Nakisa Vahdat. Dora Somoracz was also victorious as she earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Logan Finnell of LMU.
Alicia Aguilar cruised to an easy 6-0, 6-0 victory in the singles-red bracket against UC Irvine's Anna Tatsuno. Kristin Buth, meanwhile, defeated Rocio Norena of Eastern Washington by the score of 7-6, 6-4 in the singles-black bracket.
Laura Antonana Iriarte and Emma Cioffi rounded out the wins for San Diego State in singles play. Antonana-Iriarte earned a 7-6, 6-4 victory in the singles-white bracket against LMU's Tory Parravi. Cioffi defeated Franziska Goettsching of UC Irvine, 6-4, 7-6 in the singles-gold bracket.
In doubles action, Buth and Somoracz defeated the New Mexico duo of Laura Richardson and Katie Wookey in the doubles-white bracket by the score of 8-3. Cioffi and Antonana Iriarte earned an 8-3 win in the doubles-black bracket against the duo of Emma Isberg and Steffi Rath from Denver University. Roxanne Ellison and Sierra Ellison were also victorious against a duo from DU, earning a 9-8, (7-5) win against Madde Bystrom and Caroline Schnell in the doubles-red bracket.
The Aztecs continue action tomorrow morning at the Aztec Tennis Center.
