HONOLULU, Hawaii - The 40th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team completed a successful trip to Hawaii after defeating host, Rainbow Wahine, 6-1, on Saturday. The Aztecs took the doubles point and all but one singles match at UH Tennis Complex, improving their overall record to 6-3. SDSU took an early lead by taking the doubles point with Julia Wais and Kristin Buth downing Xenia Suworowa and Rebecca Faltusz on court No. 2, 8-2. Also notching a victory in third doubles was Alicia Aguilar and Isabelle Hoorn over Martina Kostalova and Kelsey Daguio, 8-6. In first doubles, Michela Casanova and Laura Antonana Iriarte would not be as fortunate, falling to Katarina Poljakova and Paulina Petriskova, 8-3. San Diego State dominated singles play, taking all but one match. In first singles, Wais dismissed Poljakova, 6-2, 6-3. On court No. 3 Antonana Iriarte would be sure not to fall to Petriskova for the second time on the day, downing Petriskova, 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Tami Nguyen battled to add to her season singles win column by defeating Kostalova, 4-6, 6-4, 10-3. Buth defeated Faltusz on court No. 5, 6-3, 6-4, while Casanova got past Daguio, 3-6, 6-3, 6-3. Aguilar would not be as fortunate, dropping her singles match to Suworowa, 6-1, 7-6 (3).
