Feb. 16, 2003
SAN DIEGO - The 25th-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team completed a two-victory weekend with a 6-1 dual match triumph over Cal Poly on Sunday at the SDSU Courts. The victory, a day after an identical 6-1 win over UC Irvine, gives the Aztecs a 3-1 record for the season.
The Aztecs dropped only the No. 3 doubles match in claiming the doubles point, then won each of the top five singles matches. All five singles wins came in straight sets, including a 6-1, 6-3 performance in the number one slot by Silvia Tornier and a 2 and 0 victory at number four by Patricia Graf. Cal Poly's Kate Romm won at No. 6 singles to earn the Mustangs' lone point.
SDSU competes again next weekend in Hawaii when the Aztecs take on host Hawai'I Friday before facing Santa Clara Saturday.
