SAN DIEGO - The 52nd-ranked San Diego State women's tennis team suffered its second straight loss to a top 20 team, dropping a 7-0 decision to No. 11 USC on Friday afternoon at the Aztec Tennis Center. With the loss, SDSU falls to 4-4 overall, while the Women of Troy improve to 6-2.

In doubles action, the Aztecs played the Trojans tough on all three courts, but were unable to pull out a win. Kathryn Kitts and Sisse Nielsen fell to the fifth-ranked tandem of Amanda Fink and Gabriela Niculescu, 8-4, at the No. 1 position, before Lindsey Nelson and Maria Sanchez secured the doubles point for USC with an 8-5 victory over Holly Bagshaw and Eliska Krausova. Over on court three, Esther Cadua and Milana Yusupov led 7-3, but couldn't put away the Trojan duo of Sarah Fansler and Lyndsay Kinstler, as they eventually dropped an 8-7 (9) heartbreaker.

In singles play, the Aztecs fell in straight sets on all six courts, with Kinstler pinning a 6-1, 6-3 defeat on Nielsen at the No. 5 spot to clinch the match for USC. At the No. 1 position, Bagshaw was unable to overcome two-time NCAA singles finalist Nelson, dropping a 6-1, 6-2 decision. A couple of Aztecs also had the challenge of battling USC's ranked players, with Cadua falling to No. 51 Fink and Krausova coming up short against 78th-ranked Niculescu.

The Aztecs will return to the courts on Friday, Feb. 22, when Hawai'i makes its way to the Aztec Tennis Center for a 2 p.m. PT match.
