Kilpatrick Named To First-Team All-MWC Swim Squad

San Diego - Aztec senior Erin Kilpatrick, by virtue of her second-place showing in the 200 butterfly at the Mountain West Conference Championships this past weekend, has been named to the 2003 all-MWC first team. In the final of that event, Kilpatrick set a school record with a time of 2:04.97. She eclipsed the old mark of 2:05.00 by Sue Jenner, a mark that had stood since the 1982-83 season.
Four other Aztecs were selected to the all-conference second team including Nicole Castelyn (400 individual medley), Jill Karacozoff (200 breaststroke), Megan Storey (1,650 freestyle) and Melissa Webb (200 backstroke). Kilpatrick also earned second-team honors in the 400 individual medley.
In addition to Kilpatrick's new school record, 12 other individuals as well as four relay teams recorded times at the conference meet that rank among San Diego State's all-time top five. That list includes the following events:

San Diego State finished its 2002-03 campaign with a dual meet record of 6-8, a mark that included victories in their final four meets of the season. The team set times in some 20 events that will enter the SDSU record book among the school's all-time top fives.
The Aztecs had eight freshmen on the 19-swimmer roster this past season and lose only two seniors in Kilpatrick and Vicky Donnelly.
