SDSU Swimming and Diving To Host City-Rival San Diego on Saturday in Final Meet Before Mountain West Championships
The San Diego State swimming and diving team will compete in its final meet before the championship season when it hosts city-rival San Diego at 1 p.m. Saturday. Following the meet, the Aztecs will have three weeks off from competition before it competes in the Mountain West Conference Championships from Feb. 22-25 in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Aztecs Among the Mountain West Leaders
SDSU is making waves in the Mountain West Conference as several athletes are ranked among the top-10 in the league.

Junior transfer Kimberlee Frith leads the way with the MWC's fastest time in the 200 free (1:51.48). She is also fifth in the 500 free (5:02.17) and sixth in the 100 free (52.22).

Freshman Diana MacManus is seventh in the 100 back (58.20) and 10th in the 200 back (2:06.74).

Other top-10 MWC times by Aztecs include junior Emily Parker in the 1,000 free (eighth, 10:30.66), classmate Stella Karoly in the 200 fly (10th, 2:09.12) and sophomore Joelle Felton in the 3-meter diving competition (237.82 points).

Welcomed Additions
With 52.3 percent of the 2005-06 squad (11-of-21) being either freshmen or transfers (including Diana MacManus who is no longer with the team), one might think it would take some time for the newcomers to contribute.

Not for these newcomers.

Overall, fastest times/marks have been recorded by newcomers in 11 of the 16 events. Transfer Kimberlee Frith leads the way with top times in the 50 (24.68), 100 (52.22), 200 (1:51.48) and 500 free (5:02.17). Frith's time in the 200 free is a school record and her 100 free mark is fourth-fastest in SDSU history.

Other top times by first-year Aztecs include Diana MacManus in the 100 (58.20) and 200 back (2:06.74), Emily Pool in the 100 breast (1:06.84), Kendal Twilling in the 200 individual medley (2:11.09), Lizette Patterson in the 200 breast (2:25.79) and Megan Flanagan in the 1-meter (247.41) and 3-meter (256.65) diving events.
