Aztecs Look To Defend Sprints Meet Title At The 25th Annual UC Irvine Irvine/Country Inn and Suites Invitational
* After breaking for the holiday season, the San Diego State women's swimming and diving team will head north to Irvine, Calif., to participate in the 25th Annual UC Irvine/Country Inn and Suites Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Anteater Aquatics Complex.

SDSU will look to defend its 2004 sprints meet championship against 18 schools from around the country. Among those expected to compete are host UC Irvine, Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, Illinois, Rice, and Washington State to name a few.

The two-day tournament will feature three meets with the sprints and distance meets taking place on Saturday and the relay meet slated for Sunday. The diving competition will be split up between the two days as well.

Complete results can be found on UC Irvine's website: www.swim.uci.edu/2005Invitationals.html and www.goaztecs.com.

Weekly Recap
* The Aztecs wrapped up their Mountain West Conference schedule in Las Vegas with a 146-139 loss to UNLV on Dec. 18-20. The defeat dropped San Diego State's overall record to 3-6, 1-6 in conference.

During that same weekend, SDSU also competed in the UNLV Winter Invitational. The Aztecs finished in the sixth place with 254 overall points.

The three-day invitational was highlighted by eight season-high times being broken and seven career marks set.

Sophomore Emily Parker, who finished second out of a field of 21 in the 1,650-yard freestyle event, established a career-best time of 17:34.70. Her second-place finish was the best showing of any Aztec during the invitational.
