SDSU Swimming and Diving Finishes Sixth

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State women's swimming and diving team placed sixth at the UNLV Winter Invitational this past weekend. The Aztecs also dropped a 146-139 dual-meet decision to UNLV over the course of the invitational. SDSU finishes Mountain West Conference play at 1-6 and is 3-6 on the season.
On Monday, sophomore Emily Parker set a career-best time in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17.34.70. Her effort was good for second place in the 21-person field. Senior Stephanie Chambers finished in 14th-place with a time of 18.32.22.
Freshmen Katie Smith and Tamarah Binek also set career-highs in the final day of the event. Smith swam a 2:09.11 in the 200-yard backstroke to place 10th and Binek recorded a time of 2:31.36 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
During Sunday's competition, sophomore Sarah Davis swam a career-best time of 1:09.77 in the 100-yard breaststroke and freshman Adrienne Conte completed the 100-yard backstroke event with a career-high time of 1:01.35.
In the one-meter diving event, freshman Katleen Heuring tallied 221.85 points, good for an eighth place finish, while freshman Joelle Felton placed tenth with a score of 206.50.
The Aztecs are back in action on Jan. 8-9 when they participate in the UC Irvine Invitational.
