SAN DIEGO - Sophomore Megan Storey had a pair of top-five finishes and senior Heather DeFelice added two top-10 finishes as the San Diego State swim team placed third after day one of the 2001 Pacific Invitational Swim Meet on Friday in Stockton, Calif.

The Aztecs amassed 168 team points, trailing first-place Nevada and host Pacific. City rival, USD is in fourth place with 133 points.

Storey, the school record holder in the 1,650-yard freestyle, gave the Aztecs their only individual medalist of the day when she won the event in 17:20.35, more than 27 seconds faster than her nearest competitor. The sophomore also scored for San Diego State when she finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:06.86.

DeFelice finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle, covering the distance in 24.77. Her fifth-place finish, in a field of more than 40, provided the Aztecs with 14 team points.

The senior, was one of four Aztecs to score team points in the 200-yard individual medley. DeFelice, who finished 10th in the event, was joined by fellow Aztecs Jennifer Graham, Meghan Casillan and Erin Kilpatrick in the top 12.

The Invitational concludes tomorrow in Stockton, at the Chris Kjeldsen Pool. Day two of the meet begins at 9 a.m.
