Aztec Swimming and Diving Downs Northern Colorado, 175-116

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State swimming and diving team won 11 individual events and the 200-yard medley relay en route to a 175-116 triumph over Northern Colorado at the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center on Thursday afternoon. Junior Emily Parker, sophomore Katie Smith and freshman Kendal Twilling led the way for the Aztecs with two wins apiece. Parker was victorious in the 500 (5:12.08) and 1,000 freestyle (10:33.18), Smith took first in the 100 (1:01.21) and 200 backstroke (2:12.33), and Twilling earned first-place finishes in the 100 (1:08.59) and 200 breaststroke (2:27.59). Senior Samantha Peters won the 100 free in a season-best time of 53.92 and junior Kimberlee Frith took first in the 200 free with a 1:55.56 clocking, while junior Stella Karoly raced to a first-place showing in the 200 fly (2:11.68). The 200 medley relay team of Smith, freshman Lizette Patterson, Karoly and Peters earned a first-place finish with a time of 1:51.81. SDSU swept the diving events as sophomore Joelle Felton won the 3-meter diving competition with 225.67 points and freshman Megan Flanagan took first in the 1-meter event (225.67).
The Aztecs stay in San Diego for a meet versus Mountain West Conference foe Wyoming at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center.
