Aztec Softball Begins Six-Game Road Trip at MWC-Leading BYU, Utah
The San Diego State softball team begins a six-game road trip Thursday when it travels to The Beehive State for three key games in Mountain West Conference play. The Aztecs (27-14, 4-1 MWC), who are receiving votes in both the USA Today/NFCA and ESPN.com/USA Softball national polls, will meet league-leading Brigham Young at 7 p.m. MT Thursday before squaring off with Utah at 3 p.m. MT Friday and again at 1 p.m. MT Saturday.

The game against the Cougars (29-14, 5-0 MWC) will be broadcast live on BYU-TV and will re-air on The Mtn. at 4 p.m. PT Friday. The first game against the Utes (16-23, 0-4 MWC) will air live on The Mtn.

SDSU had its season-long nine-game winning streak snapped Sunday with a 3-1 home loss to New Mexico. San Diego State has still put together an impressive run, winning 16 of its last 19 games, 18 of its last 22 and 22 of its last 28 contests.

Senior All-American Erin Floros (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS) continues to lead the San Diego State offense with a .307 batting average in 27 games (all starts). Floros, who missed 14 games earlier this season with a bout of appendicitis, is also among the team leaders in home runs (2), slugging percentage (.440), on-base percentage (.398) and fielding percentage (1.000). Classmate Tonye McCorkle (Santa Ana Heights, Calif.) brings a season-long eight-game hitting streak into the weekend and leads the team in at-bats (123), runs (16), hits (35), triples (4) and total bases (50), while ranking second with a .285 batting average. Junior Brittany Knudsen (San Diego/Mt. Carmel HS), who recently passed Janna Kovensky (2001-04) for first on the school's all-time walk list, is batting .274 with a team-high 23 walks and 11 stolen bases.

The 1-2 pitching punch of freshman Bailey Micetich (Woodland, Calif.) (14-4, 1.49 ERA, 131.2 IP) and sophomore Samantha Beasley (San Diego/Steele Canyon HS) (13-10, 1.81 ERA, 154.1 IP) continue to improve in the circle for the Aztecs, tossing shutouts in 16 of the team's 27 victories.

The Cougars lead the all-time series between the two schools, 20-17, including victories in six of the last eight meetings.

The Aztecs have also historically struggled against the Utes and trail the all-time series, 46-27. Each team has four wins apiece over the last two seasons.
