SDSU's 2006 Women's Soccer Recruiting Class Ranked No. 30 in Nation

June 15, 2006

SAN DIEGO - San Diego State's 2006 women's soccer recruiting class has been listed among the top 30 in America by Soccer Buzz Magazine. The publication ranked the Aztecs' incoming class No. 30, a year after cracking the top 20 (No. 19) for the first time in school history.

Soccer Buzz also has head coach Mike Giuliano's second recruiting class first of the eight Mountain West Conference schools and ninth in the West Region. According to the rankings, SDSU is ahead of 2005 NCAA participants California (No. 31), Marquette (No. 35) and Boston University (No. 41), to name a few.

Two of the Aztecs' incoming recruits, Jessica Gordon (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Heather Vandevanter (Alamo, Calif.), were also named top 150 high school recruits by the magazine. Gordon was ranked among the top 75 players while Vandevanter was named to the top 150 list.

SDSU, which is coming off its second consecutive winning season after posting an 11-9-2 record in 2005, will begin its season on August 25 versus Butler at the Purdue Tournament in West Lafayette, Ind.
