Five @AztecWLax Players Named MPSF All-Academic

WOODLAND, Calif. - Five Aztecs were named all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Scholar Athletes, the conference announced on Thursday.
Senior goalkeeper Sammy Slattery (Carlsbad, Calif.), sophomore attacker Bailey Ewing (Reisterstown, Md.), sophomore attacker Michaela Jarvis (Annapolis, Md.), junior midfielder Isabelle Pickett (Adelaide, Australia) and sophomore midfielder Falon Manns (Mason, Ohio) each were honored.
The list is comprised of student-athletes who are at least sophomores with a 3.00 or better cumulative grade point average, and have completed at least one full academic year at the institution prior to the season. In addition, the student-athletes must have competed in fifty percent of their team's games this season.
Slattery (3.20 GPA) is the first senior from the Women's Lacrosse program to graduate, and is the all-time saves leader. The goalkeeper started all 16 games this season, finishing with 121 saves and a .416 save percentage. Slattery recorded a program-high 16 saves in a victory over Temple on March 16, and against Stanford on April 21. She also was selected MPSF Defensive Player of the Week on March 18.
Ewing (3.21 GPA) started all 16 games for the Aztecs, scoring a team-high 46 goals with 10 assists to rank second on the team with 56 total points. The sophomore added eight groundballs, 13 draw controls and was named second-team all-MPSF.
Jarvis (3.05 GPA) also started all 16 games this season, finishing with a team-best 35 assists and 59 total points. In addition, Jarvis finished the season ranked 18th in the nation in assists per game (2.19) and tied for 20th in total assists (35). The sophomore was also a second-team all-MPSF selection and was named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week on two separate occasions this season.
Pickett (3.87 GPA) appeared in all 16 games this season, recording eight goals and five assists for a total of 13 points. The junior also added 15 draw controls and caused five turnovers. This summer, Pickett will play for Team Australia in the 2013 Women's Lacrosse World Cup.
Manns (3.69 GPA) appeared in 11 games this season, tallying an assist, a groundball and three draw controls.
