March 6, 2013

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State Lacrosse team returns to the field on Friday March 8, for its second home game of the season, as the Aztecs host La Salle at Aztec Lacrosse Field beginning at 7 p.m. PT. It is the second of five-consecutive home games for SDSU.

The Aztecs (2-1, 1-0 MPSF) defeated MPSF foe Saint Mary's in its home opener, 19-6, under the lights on Feb. 22. Sophomore Michaela Jarvis scored three goals with five assists en route to being named MPSF Offensive Player of the Week on Feb. 26, while sophomore Bailey Ewing added three goals and sophomore Madison Formwalt finished with two goals and two assists in the victory.

Ewing scored three goals and added an assist in last season's matchup between the two teams in Philadelphia, Pa., but La Salle was able to come away with the home victory, 10-8. The Aztecs made a late rally by scoring three of the game's final four goals, but ran out of time in the narrow defeat.

La Salle is 5-1 this season and coming off a victory over Fresno State at Aztec Lacrosse Field on Tuesday, 14-8. The Explorers have won four-straight games and are led by sophomore Caitlyn Brostrand and senior Lauren McDermott, who have 19 and 18 points respectively this season. In addition, sophomore Erin McCabe leads La Salle with 15 groundballs and 10 caused turnovers.
