Sept. 18, 2009

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's golf team will be among an 18-team field this Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20, in Albuquerque, N.M. for the 30th annual Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole event takes place at the par-73, 6,187-yard University of New Mexico Championship Course.

First-year head coach Emilee Klein will bring five Aztecs to New Mexico, including juniors Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) and Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.), sophomore Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) and freshmen Gina Clark (Murrieta, Calif.) and Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.).

Both Enarsson and Roberts competed for SDSU at the same tournament last year, helping the squad to a 13th-place finish with a 53-over 529. Enarsson, playing in just her third collegiate round, posted a career-low 68 on the final day to finish in a tie for 18th individually at 5-over 224.

The Aztecs have competed in each of the last six Dick McGuire Invites over the past seven seasons, as the 2007 edition was not played. The team's best finish since 2002 has been an 11th-place performance in 2003.

This year's Dick McGuire field includes six teams ranked in the preseason top-30 poll according to Golfweek, with highest being No. 18 UNLV, followed by No. 21 New Mexico, No. 22 TCU, No. 23 Arkansas and No. 29 Texas A&M. Other MWC teams competing this weekend include Colorado State and Wyoming.

The teams will play 36 holes on Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. MT, followed by the final round on Sunday starting at 7:30 a.m. MT. Live stats will be available on www.golfstat.com.
