SAN DIEGO - San Diego State freshman golfer Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) earned a gold medal at the 2009 Canada Games, Aug. 25-28, at Brudenell River Golf Club on Prince Edward Island, Canada. Wong was one of three golfers to represent British Columbia, recording rounds of 72-77-73 as the trio cruised to a 12-stroke victory over second place Ontario.

Wong ended up in a four-way tie for second place on the final individual leaderboard after concluding competition with an 81 for a four-round total of 15-over 303. Her British Columbia teammate Sue Kim came away with the individual gold medal with a 5-over 293.

Aztec sophomore golfer Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) also finished her summer action last week at the International European Ladies' Amateur Championship, Aug. 26-29, at Falsterbo Golf Course in Sweden. Enarsson was one of just 60 golfers to advance to Saturday's final round, tying for 44th place at 26-over 310. She began the competition with a 3-over 74, followed by a 77 and a 75, but posted an 84 on the final 18 holes.

Wong, Enarsson and the rest of the SDSU women's golf squad will begin their 2009-10 campaign in mid-September under first-year head coach Emilee Klein.
