SDSU Women's Golf 22nd In Freshman Class Impact Ranking

March 26, 2008

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's golf team has been ranked 22nd in the nation by Golfstat.com in the website's freshman class impact ranking through March 20.

The Aztecs have six true freshmen on their 2007-08 roster with three of those appearing in SDSU's top six in season stroke average. A freshman has also been SDSU's top individual finisher in each of the last five tournaments, including all three events this spring.

Freshman Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) is second on the team in stroke average (79.76) and is the only Aztec to participate in all seven tournaments in 2007-08. Another local standout, Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.), has ended up as the team's top performer at three events and is fourth overall in stroke average at 79.86. Kaitlen Miyajima (Wailuku, Hawaii) ranks sixth on the squad in stroke average (80.18) and has had her round count 90 percent of the time toward the team total.

SDSU head coach Felicia Brown also announced Wednesday changes to the team's 2008 spring schedule. The Aztecs will face Brown University in a dual-match (18 holes) at Salt Creek Golf Course in Chula Vista, Calif., on Thursday afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m.

SDSU will then head to Sacramento to participate in the 54-hole Sacramento State Women's Preview Golf Tournament, March 31-April 1, at Lincoln Hills Golf Club. The event will be the Aztecs' final tune-up prior to the Mountain West Conference championships in Albuquerque, N.M., April 17-19.
