SDSU Women's Golf's Malin Enarsson Finishes Fourth In Fall Finale

San Diego State freshman Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) closed out the 2008 fall campaign Wednesday with a final round 69 to place fourth overall at the 54-hole Kent Youel Invitational in Kapolei, Hawaii. Enarsson's 69 was her third sub-70 round of the year and tied for the best of the day in the 81-golfer field, helping the Aztecs remain in eighth place overall as a team at 43-over 907, including a third-round 306. SDSU's eighth-place finish was its best ever in eight all-time appearances at the Kent Youel Invite, which was played at the par-72, 6,208-yard Kapolei Golf Course. Enarsson jumped five slots on the individual leaderboard with her third round 69 to post a two-day total of 1-under 215, the second time she has finished under par at a 54-hole event. The fourth-place performance was also a career-best beating her eighth-place finish at the CU Heather Farr Memorial when she also carded a 1-under 215. Sophomore Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.), who logged a career-low 67 in the second round, placed 27th overall at 9-over 225, including a 77 on Wednesday morning. The 225 tied her career best for a 54-hole event. The Aztecs' other three golfers finished within one stroke of one another, as sophomore Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) carded a 236, including an 80 over the final 18 holes to end up in a tie for 58th place. Freshman Casey McIntosh (Rancho Mirage, Calif.) ended up in 61st with a 237 and junior Petra Cole (San Diego, Calif.) finished in 62nd with a 238. USF maintained its 36-hole lead by winning the 15-team tournament by 11 strokes over UC Irvine and San Jose State with a 3-over 867. UC Irvine's Jane Chin garnered medalist honors with her 13-under 203. San Diego State will take an almost four month break before resuming action next spring at the Aztec Invitational in Chula Vista, Calif., Feb. 16-17, 2009 at the Salt Creek Golf Club.
