Aztec Women's Golf Finishes Day One At Ron Moore Intercollegiate

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - The San Diego State women's golf team is in 12th place at 40-over 616 after the first day of the Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate. The Aztecs carded rounds of 306 and 310 Monday and trail 11th place Texas Tech by seven strokes. Host University of Denver leads the 16-team field with a 12-under 564 at the par-72, 6,399-yard Highlands Ranch Golf Club.
Leading the pack for the Aztecs was Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) who shot a 5-over 149. The sophomore shot an opening round 75 and improved by one stroke in her second round of play to finish at 149. She is currently tied for 24th place and her 25 pars were tied for third best on day one.
SDSU's Alana Erlandson (Palm Desert, Calif.) finished the day tied in 42nd place at 10-over-par and sophomore Heather Wilson (Chula Vista, Calif.) shot a 6-over 78 in both rounds to end up tied for 52nd at 156. Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia), who claimed medalist honors at last week's tournament, is currently tied for 62nd place at 14-over 158, while senior Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) sits in a 65th place tie at 15-over 159.
As a team, San Diego State finished fourth in par 3 (+10), and tied for sixth in par 5 (+2) scoring. They are also tied for fourth in the 16-team field in pars with 106.
Last year's Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate medalist, Denver's Emily Hoeper, is tied for first place at 5-under with BYU's Rachel Newren and Arkansas - Little Rock's Sara Wikstrom.
The Aztecs will wrap up play tomorrow with the final 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament. A shotgun start is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. MT.
