Women's Golf Ninth Through 27 Holes Of Dixie Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The San Diego State women's golf team completed the first 27 holes of the Utah Dixie Classic in ninth place, shooting a 31-over total of 463. The Aztecs, who shot a first-round 317, are off to a better start for the second 18 with a score of 146 through nine holes in the two-day, 27 hole-27 hole, three-golf course event. San Francisco holds the 27-hole lead with a 15-over score of 447, a five-shot advantage over second-place Nevada (+20, 452). UC Irvine stands third at 23-over 455, while the top-ranked team in the field, UNLV (461, +29), stands only two shots and one placing in front of SDSU in eighth. A pair of San Francisco golfers, Jordan Auten and Joan Shimozaki, shares the 27-hole lead at even-par 108. The top SDSU individuals, junior Sandy Kim (West Linn, Ore./West Linn HS) and senior Jennifer Hoene (Acampo, Calif./St. Mary's HS), are seven shots back and share 24th place at 7-over 115. Junior Shayna Miyajima (Wailuku, Hawaii/Baldwin HS), who began the spring with a pair of second-place finishes and a tie for 13th, is 8-over-par at 116. Senior Claire Riley (San Diego, Calif./Univ. of San Diego HS) is another stroke back at 9-over 117 and freshman Toni Lutz (Anaheim, Calif./Valley Christian HS) stands 77th at 123.
