Aztec Women's Golf Moves Up To 14th Place At The Oregon Duck Invitational

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's golf squad jumped one spot in the final team standings after combining for a 326 in the third and final round of the Oregon Duck Invitational Tuesday in Junction City, Ore. The Aztecs moved from 15th to 14th with a 54-hole total of 988 (+124) at the par-72, 6,103-yard Shadow Hills Country Club. The 29th-ranked California Golden Bears claimed the team title, going from third to first with a 44-over 908, and beating tournament host Oregon by just one stroke. Aztec freshman Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) finished strong with a 76 in the final 18 holes. Kazarian's score tied as the eighth-best on the day in the field of 87 golfers and allowed her to move up 15 slots in the final standings to 67th place with a 33-over 249. Sophomore Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) also took a significant leap on the individual leader board with a seven-over par 79 in final day action to finish 31-over for the tournament. Senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) was actually the team's top finisher in the two-day event, carding a 244 (+28) to come in tied for 53rd. Freshman Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) fell nine slots to 76th place after firing a third round 88, while senior Toni Lutz (Anaheim, Calif.) capped her first spring tournament with an 84 (+12). Three-time defending tournament individual medalist, Washington State's Kim Welch, was upset by Long Beach State's Kay Hoey by just one stroke. Hoey recorded a 73 in the third round for a 54-hole total of two-over 218. SDSU takes a short break before getting back into its spring schedule, April 4-5, at the BYU Dixie Classic in St. George, Utah. Three-round scores with relation to par March 22, at the Oregon Duck Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,103-yard Shadow Hills Country Club in Junction City, Ore.
