Aztec Women's Golf 15th After Two Rounds At The Oregon Duck Invitational

SAN DIEGO - Competing in a field with four squads ranked in the national top 30, the San Diego State women's golf team is in 15th after day one of the Oregon Duck Invitational in Junction City, Ore. The Aztecs combined for an 86-over par 662 in the first 36 holes at the par-72, 6,103-yard Shadow Hills Country Club. Tournament host Oregon and 23rd-ranked Washington State are tied for the lead with matching scores of 24-over 600.

Aztec senior Megan Mulhaupt (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) posted the team's best performances in both the first and second rounds, capping the day with a three-over 75. The 75 matches her Aztec career best for 18 holes and is also a season-low round. Mulhaupt is tied for 35th in the tournament individual standings at 13-over 157.

Freshman Anna Booth (Coffs Harbour, Australia) is tied for 67th place after two rounds with an 84 in the first 18 holes and 82 in the next 18 for a combined 22-over 166. Sophomore Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.) is just two strokes behind Booth with a 168 and is tied for 73rd.

Freshman Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.), who has been the team's top finisher in each of the first two spring tournaments, is tied with senior Toni Lutz (Anaheim, Calif.) for 82nd place. Despite carding scores of 173, both Kazarian and Lutz managed to improve on their first round efforts by three and seven strokes, respectively,

Three-time defending tournament individual medalist, Washington State's Kim Welch, leads the field with a one-under 143. She is just one stroke up on both Oregon's Kim McCready and Fresno State's Laura Luethke.

Tuesday's third and final round is set for a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (PST).

Two-round scores with relation to par March 21, at the Oregon Duck Invitational, played at the par-72, 6,103-yard Shadow Hills Country Club in Junction City, Ore.
