March 13, 2007
Boulder City, Nev. - Complete Tournament Results/Live Round Three Results The San Diego State women's golf team fell to 15th place after posting a second-round 22-over 310 Tuesday at the UNLV Spring Invitational in Boulder City, Nev. The Aztecs, who are at 32-over 608 for the tournament, were left short handed as the team's top golfer entering the week, sophomore Alana Erlandson (Palm Desert, Calif.), was disqualified for a scorecard discrepancy at the par-72, 6,199-yard Boulder Creek Golf Club. Erlandson finished with a 4-over 76 before the error on the sixth hole was noticed, causing SDSU to have to count junior Kim Carmody's (Palantine, Ill.) 10-over 82 toward its team score. Erlandson's performance would have put the Aztecs in a tie for 14th and just one stroke out of 13th place. SDSU sophomore Maki Kamimura (West Covina, Calif.) was unable to match her season-best even-par 72 in the first round, posting a 5-over 77, which puts her in a tie for 36th place at 5-over 149. Two Aztecs improved on their day one performances by a stroke, including senior Jamie Oliver (Los Alamitos, Calif.), who jumped from 50th to 47th with a 3-over 75. Sophomore Jackie Kazarian (Dana Point, Calif.) was one behind Oliver with a 4-over 76, leaving her in 62nd place at 9-over par. Brigham Young continues to lead the field, improving its first-round four stroke lead to seven at 13-under 563. Cougar Rachel Newren still has a slight one stroke edge in the race for medalist honors over New Mexico's Jodi Ewart, as the pair posted matching efforts of 2-under 70 Tuesday. San Diego State finishes its first 54-hole tournament of the spring Wednesday, beginning at 8:24 a.m. at the 10th hole.
