Aztec Golf's Malin Enarsson Finishes 25th At Bruin Wave Invite

San Diego State sophomore Malin Enarsson (Gothenburg, Sweden) finished 25th with a 6-over 222 Wednesday at the three-day Bruin Wave Invitational in Santa Clarita, Calif. As a team, the Aztecs stayed in 12th place overall, taking three strokes off their second round score with a 306 to finish the 54-hole event at 53-over 917 at the par-72, 6,282-yard Valley Course at Robinson Ranch Golf Club.
All five SDSU players posted sub-80 scores in the final 18 holes, including Enarsson, who capped the tournament with 2-over 74, including three birdies on the back nine. Aztec freshman Christine Wong (Richmond, B.C.) moved up two spots on the individual leaderboard into a tie for 48th place at 14-over 230, including a 77. Classmate Gina Clark (Palm Desert, Calif.) was two strokes behind her with a 16-over 232 to tie for 51st and junior Stephanie Arcala (Oceanside, Calif.) tied for 61st with a 235, following her second consecutive 79.
Junior Samantha Roberts (Carlsbad, Calif.) made the biggest improvement on the day, posting a 5-over 77 for her best round of the tournament by far. Roberts had two birdies on her first three holes and ended up tied for 80th with a 246.
Sixth-ranked USC erased a four-stroke deficit heading into the final round to earn the team title by two strokes over Arizona State. Pepperdine's Danielle Kang also made a move up the standings to claim medalist honors by three strokes with an 8-under 208.
San Diego State continues its spring schedule next week at the Juli Inkster Spartan Invite in San Jose, Calif., March 8-9.
