SDSU Women's Crew to Hold Walk-On Tryouts

July 23, 2002

SAN DIEGO - Open tryouts for the 2002-2003 SDSU Women's rowing team are set to begin September 13 at 6 a.m. at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center. A mandatory informational meeting will be held September 12 at 6 p.m. in the Aztec Athletic Center auditorium.

The SDSU Women's Crew is a nationally competitive, NCAA sanctioned, collegiate sport. Rowing is one of the largest sports on campus, second only to the football team, with an average of 60 women participating each year. The sport begins training in the fall, with the bulk of competition taking place in the Spring semester. A potential student- athlete should be a full-time student at SDSU who is willing to work hard and learn. No previous rowing experience is necessary. Some rowing scholarships are still available for 2002-03. For additional information, contact the Women's Crew office at (619) 594-0759.
