Rowers Earn Academic Honors

June 23, 1999

SAN DIEGO - The 1999 Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association announced the winners of the first annual All-Region and All-American awards. San Diego State University's Teresa Bond, a senior of Sweetwater High School in National City, CA, was awarded West Region first team honors. SDSU crew members who received West Region second team honors included junior Meredith Johnson from Ventura, CA, senior Tery Kasa from San Clemente, CA, and coxswain Elysia Dagert a senior from Long Beach, CA.

The CRCA also announced its National Scholar-Athlete awards. Criteria for this award include being a second, third, or fourth year team participant with a 3.5 cumulative GPA.

Aztecs who received the National Scholar-Athlete Award were; Teresa Bond, a kinesiology major who is minoring in management with a 3.55; Cory Stryker, a psychology major with a 3.62; and Meredith Johnson, a pre-physical therapy major with a 3.75.
