Aztec Lightweights Finish Fifth in Heat at IRAs
June 4, 2004 CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The San Diego State lightweight eight boat, ranked No. 10 nationally in the final USRowing regular-season poll, placed fifth in Friday morning's trial heat at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association championships, where the national champion for women's lightweight rowing will be crowned on Saturday. The heat winners, No. 1 Radcliffe (Harvard) and No. 2 Wisconsin, automatically qualify for Saturday's championship final, while the other 10 boats will race in a pair of repechage heats, starting at 2:24 p.m. EDT on Friday. The top two boats in each repechage heat also advance to the championship final while the other three boats in each heat will participate in Saturday's petite final. The petite and championship finals will take place between 2:12 and 2:27 p.m. EDT on Saturday.
