The San Diego State women's crew team, coming off separate victories over California and Stanford last weekend, put in another solid performance this past Sunday at the Newport Autumn Rowing Festival.

The Aztecs finished just seconds behind national powerhouse Southern California in the women's open eight. San Diego State's top varsity eight placed third out of 18 teams competing in the three-mile course with a final time of 16:26. SDSU 'B' finished fourth in the event, trailing the 'A' squad by just 29 seconds. SDSU's third varsity team came in 11th, racing to an overall time of 17:56.

SDSU also competed in the novice eight, with the the Aztecs 'A' team finishing third with a time of 20:13. The 'B' squad placed sixth in the 18-team field, rowing to a final time of 21:31. The Aztecs concluded the day in the women's open four and finished third among the 10-team field, racing to a time of 20:12.
