SDSU Competes at Pac-10 Rowing Championships

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The San Diego State crew team competed at the Pac-10 Rowing Championships Sunday on the shores of Lake Natoma in Sacramento, Calif. The varsity four took seventh with a time of 7 minutes, 46.9 seconds, well ahead of eighth-place Stanford (8:02.1). The Aztecs finished ninth in both the second varsity eight and the novice eight, respectively. The second varsity eight's time of 7:00.5 was four seconds faster than Loyola Marymount (7:04.7) and almost six seconds better than UC Davis (7:06.3). The novice eight boat was eighth (7:14.9), easily outdistancing Sonoma State (7:29.9) and Oregon (7:31.9). The varsity eight also competed at the Championships, placing 13th with a time of 7:00.9. The lightweights, which finished second at the Pacific Coast Championships on Saturday, will compete in the IRA Regatta at Copper River, Camden, N.J., on the weekend of June 2-4.
