Aztec Women's Basketball Among ESPN.Com's Teams To Watch in 2009-10
Nov. 10, 2009
SAN DIEGO - With the official start to the 2009-10 campaign just three days away, the San Diego State women's basketball team has been singled out by ESPN.com and writer Graham Hays as one of the "teams to watch as 2009-10 unfolds".
In the article, Hays tabbed Aztec juniors Jessika Bradley (Sacramento, Calif.) and Paris Johnson (San Diego, Calif.) as one of the country's best frontcourt duos and said that SDSU head coach Beth Burns can "coach with the best of them". Hays rated San Diego State 22nd nationally heading into this season.
Earlier this fall, Hays also picked San Diego State's 2010 MWC opener at New Mexico, as the No. 2 game to watch in the nation in the month of January, while the Aztecs' Feb. 16 meeting with TCU was among the "10 more to watch" during that month.
Another ESPN.com writer, Charlie Crème, picked SDSU No. 23 among his 64 teams to watch in 2009-10, with Johnson being a possible "breakout star".
San Diego State received votes in both preseason top 25 polls and was picked to win the 2010 Mountain West Conference title. The Aztecs officially start the season this Friday, Nov. 13, when the team takes on UC Irvine at 5 p.m. at the Anteaters' Bren Events Center in Irvine, Calif.
