The San Diego State women's basketball team was rated the 11th most improved team in NCAA Division I this past season in statistics released by the NCAA. The Aztecs were one of eight schools that improved its record over last year by 8.5, a figure that is determined by adding the difference in victories and losses between the two seasons and then dividing by two.

SDSU ended its 2006-07 campaign with a 12-16 overall record, just one season after ending up 3-24. The Aztecs, under second-year head coach Beth Burns, also posted the biggest turnaround in league history, claiming five Mountain West Conference victories after going winless in 2005-06.

Oklahoma State was the most improved team overall in NCAA Division I, going from 6-22 in 2005-06 to 20-11 in 2006-07. The Cowgirls were followed by Western Carolina and Morgan State.
