SAN DIEGO - The San Diego State women's basketball team celebrated its successful 2011-12 campaign on Wednesday evening with its annual year-end banquet at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center on campus.
The night was a special one for seniors, Kalena Tutt and Sajoyia Griffin, as each received special recognition as well as a framed copy of their jersey. In addition, junior Gabrielle Clark earned the Tammy Blackburn Award for the third consecutive year for her contributions to the team both on and off the court. Each of the Aztecs who picked up accolades from the Mountain West Conference during the season also were formerly presented with their awards.
The banquet was emceed by former Aztec guard and current SDSU associate alumni director Tammy Blackburn with notable speakers including University President Dr. Elliot Hirshman, Director of Athletics Jim Sterk and Mountain West Coach of the Year Beth Burns.
The Aztecs had a record-breaking 2011-12 season in which they claimed both the Mountain West regular season and tournament titles. SDSU also advanced to the NCAA tournament for the third time in the last four years and finished with a 25-7 overall record, just one win short of the school record for victories.
Season tickets for general admission seating areas are now available for the 2012-13 season. The cost is just $60 apiece for adults and $30 for seniors or youths. The ticket office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
