LAS VEGAS - The top-seeded San Diego State women's basketball team will square off against No. 5 New Mexico in the first of two semifinal games Friday at the 2013 Reese's Mountain West Championship. The game will take place at the Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev.

#AztecWBB Clinches Share of MW Title; Downs New Mexico
Behind senior Courtney Clements' career-high tying 29 points, the SDSU women's basketball team clinched a share of the MW title on Wednesday with a 72-44 conquest of visiting New Mexico at Viejas Arena.

The Aztecs advanced to the semifinals with a 67-39 victory over Nevada on Thursday to extend their winning streak to 16 games. Meanwhile, New Mexico emerged triumphant by a 72-59 count over No. 4 UNLV.

SDSU is making its fifth all-time appearance in the Mountain West championship semifinals and is undefeated in its last four opportunities (2008, 2009, 2010, 2012).

The Aztecs are receiving votes in both the AP rankings and USA Today coaches poll. SDSU has appeared in the coaches poll for six straight weeks and have cracked the last five AP polls.

-SDSU Head Coach Beth Burns: Burns (Ohio Wesleyan, 1979) is in the eighth year of her second stint as head coach at San Diego State. She led the Aztecs for eight seasons from 1989 to 1997, before returning in 2005. She has an overall head coaching record of 374-249 in 21 seasons, and she is 293-184 in her 16 campaigns at SDSU.
-New Mexico Head Coach Yvonne Sanchez: Sanchez, (USIU, 1989) the Lobos' former associate head coach, took over the reins last year and has a school and career record of 28-33. She is a former SDSU assistant, having coached on The Mesa during the 1999-2000 campaign.
-Series History: New Mexico owns a 27-23 all-time record against San Diego State. The Aztecs, however, have claimed five straight and 10 of the last 12 meetings, including a 72-44 triumph in San Diego on Feb. 27.
