SDSU Women's Basketball's Michelle Elliott, Courtney Fritz Earn All-Conference Honors
March 8, 2004 SAN DIEGO - Two San Diego State women's basketball players, freshmen Michelle Elliott (Pasco, Wash.) and Courtney Fritz (Newberg, Ore.), have been named to the 2004 Mountain West All-Conference teams, the league office announced Monday. Elliott earned a spot on the six member all-MWC third team, while Fritz was an honorable mention selection. Elliott is the only freshman to be selected to the league's three teams this season. The guard has led SDSU in scoring most of the year, averaging 12.5 ppg., which ranks eighth overall and first among freshmen in the Mountain West Conference. She has scored in double-figures in 20 of her 26 outings and leads the team in assists (51) and minutes per game (36.0) and is second in three-pointers (36). Fritz, the only Aztec to play and start in all 27 games, is second in the MWC in three-point field goals in both overall (2.19/g) and league (2.21/g) contests. Fritz is fifth in the SDSU season record book for three-pointers made (59), fourth in attempts (160) and 10th in percentage (36.9). She is already seventh in SDSU career history for three-point field goals and has led the team in scoring on 10 occasions in 2003-04. Elliott, Fritz and the No. 7 seed Aztecs face No. 2 seed Utah in the first round of the Mountain West Conference Championships this Wednesday at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo.
