Women's Basketball - San Diego State 69, Air Force 57
San Diego State Head Coach Jim Tomey
On his team's effort:
"We have to keep up this same amount of effort that we had against Colorado State, Air Force and Wyoming, if we want to beat New Mexico on Saturday. We forced 30 turnovers and we were given a lot of shot attempts."
On the offense tonight:
"Every time we shoot between 40-to-50 percent, we're pretty much guaranteed to keep the lead and win. We established the tempo in the first half and that is what kept the team going. Toward the end, Air Force started to push and I guess we got a little complacent. But our main goal was to win, and we did just that."
On Saturday's game vs. New Mexico:
"As long as we can rebound, knock down open shots and work on our free throws, we'll be able to take on New Mexico Saturday. Otherwise, it will be a really long game."
San Diego State Senior Guard Jamey Cox
On the win:
"This is a good win for us, mainly because last year we only beat Air Force and this year we have three conference wins. Especially with the last two home games, we want to win."
On SDSU's second-half defensive effort:
"We were only up by three points at halftime. Especially with their 18 (first-half) turnovers, we needed to come out and respond. Since we're naturally a defensive team, we came out and played harder defense and that in turn helped our offense."
