Aztecs Have Solid First Day at Anteater Pre-Regional

IRVINE, Calif. - San Diego State enjoyed a solid first day at the Anteater Pre-Regional Tournament on Friday at Anteater Tennis Stadium on the campus of UC Irvine. Andre Feliz, Tim Schulz van Endert and Matthew Tosches were all double winners on the day.
The tourney started with doubles and the Aztecs took on teams from Concordia and UC Santa Barbara. The duo of Schulz van Endert and Jordan Colman defeated Augusto Elias and Bruno Santerelli of Concordia, 8-5. Feliz and Tosches, however, were not as lucky on this morning as they dropped a close 9-7 decision to UCSB's Mathieu Forget and Evan Jurgenson.
Following doubles, SDSU took on players from UC Irvine and took three of four singles matches. Schulz van Endert was a three-set winner over Khunpol Issara, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, while Feliz posted a 6-1, 7-6(3) score to down Ryan Mayer. Tosches, meanwhile, cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Jon Kazarian.
In the afternoon, the Aztecs opposed individuals from Loyola Marymount and UCSB and split four singles matches. Feliz was a 6-2, 6-1 winner over LMU's Aris Andreasian, as was Tosches, who took down Jurgenson of UCSB, 6-4, 6-4. Schulz van Endert and Colman dropped their respective matches to their LMU counterparts.
