SDSU's Freddy McDonald Named to Pac-10 All-Academic Team

Dec. 6, 2007

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - San Diego State senior forward Freddy McDonald (Phoenix, Ariz./Mountain Pointe HS) has been named to the 2007 Pac-10 All-Academic Team, announced today by Commissioner Tom Hansen. It was the second straight year the co-captain earned first-team honors.

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor.

McDonald, a chemistry major with a 3.45 grade point average, played in all 19 games in 2006 with six starts to his credit. He contributed two assists, including the game-tying assist in SDSU's 1-1 tie against Washington on Senior Day on Nov. 18. A 2004 Top Drawer Freshman All-American, McDonald finished his four-year career with four goals and two assists for 10 points.

San Diego State finished in a tie for second place in the Pac-10 with a 4-4-2 league record and 8-7-4 overall, its second consecutive runner-up finish, after being picked fifth in the preseason poll.
