WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Seven San Diego State men's soccer student-athletes were named to the Pac-12 Conference All-Academic Team, the league announced today. This marks the second consecutive year in which the Aztecs have had at least seven student-athletes receive all-academic honors.
Kody Duff, Anthony Gooch and Morgan Sacco earned second-team recognition. Duff, a junior midfielder has a 3.53 grade-point average and is studying business accounting. A sophomore defender, Gooch is a kinesiology major and sports a GPA of 3.42. Sacco, lastly, is a junior in the business management program and owns a 3.46 GPA.
This marks the second straight season in which the trio has earned conference all-academic recognition. For Duff and Sacco, this is their second second-team appointment. Gooch was an honorable mention pick in 2011.
Robbie Freise, Casey Meuser, Tyler Smith and Blake Wise, meanwhile, garnered honorable mention all-academic accolades. This is the second straight year in which Meuser has landed on the honorable mention squad.
To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or a significant contributor.
