Christina Ross was a three-year letterwinner for the Aztec softball team from 2006-08. Last season, Ross became the second All-American in program history when she was named to the Easton Second Team. Over her career, Ross twice earned MWC Pitcher of the Year honors and was a three-time all-league selection. Ross is the career SDSU record holder in solo shutouts (23), shutouts (tied - 28) and strikeouts (612), despite playing just three seasons for the Aztecs. Ross is currently interning in the Aztec media relations office.

San Diego State's strong start in the Pac-10 shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone associated with Aztec athletics. Coming off back-to-back runner-up finishes in arguably one of the toughest conferences in the nation, SDSU was once again picked to finish fifth before the season. However, redshirt junior Jamel Wallace and company are hitting the ground running and are playing their best soccer of the season. In nine games, Wallace has three points and one goal and one assist despite playing primarily in the back.

Wallace recently spoke with Christina Ross about the upcoming season for The Ross Report.

On the team's start to the season:
I think we got off to a bit of a slow start this season, but as we have shown in years past, we've picked it up in the Pac-10.  I think that's great for us, especially coming into this weekend.

On the excitement of playing at home:
It's wonderful coming home to see our fans.  Being at home, that's our spotlight, so it will help us a lot, especially with the fans supporting us.

On preparing to play Oregon State:
Our motives are to win the knockdowns and fight and battle real hard.  We've got to come out from the start of the whistle to the end of the game.  Hopefully we can get on the scoreboard.

On how the team's schedule has prepared the team:
I think it has prepared us very well knowing that we have tough opponents. Against all the opponents we need to really show who we are.  We've been playing our best soccer yet.

On players who have stepped up this year:
I would say players like (Pedro Anan) in the middle has done a really good job for us.  Other players like Evan Toft, he's always a key player in our roles and Nick Cardenas in the back.  It's been a rough start but we've been picking it up.

On being a versatile player:
It's been hard on me.  I've been working at it really well and trying to do my best.  I just have got to play wherever (head coach Lev Kirshner) puts me and do whatever I need to do to help my team win games.
